Professor John Morrison, director of the California National Primate Research Center at UC Davis, presented the multimedia 'Life of a Neuron' exhibit at the American Possibilities: A White House Demo Day Nov. 7. The invitation-only event highlighted 40 American innovations in science and technology supported by federal funding.

Life of a Neuron grew out of a partnership between the Society for Neuroscience and ARTECHOUSE. The exhibit draws on federally-funded neuroscience research to show how cells within the brain manage, process and transfer information. Visitors can walk into an artistic rendering of the brain, seen from the perspective of a brain cell.
Life of a Neuron originally premiered at ARTECHOUSE in Washington, D.C. in 2021 and then toured to New York City in 2022. Morrison, who is also a professor of neurology at the UC Davis School of Medicine, is President-elect of the society and lead scientist for the exhibit.
