Message from the UC Davis Office of the Chancellor

The University of California, Davis, is a diverse community comprised of individuals having many perspectives and identities. Like others in the Davis community, we are deeply disturbed by reports of comments delivered last Friday at the Islamic Center of Davis concerning Jewish people. These reports have understandably caused great pain and alarm. We harshly condemn hateful remarks and have extended to those members of our community our immediate and ongoing support. We want to emphasize that we do not condone any type of discrimination. As is stated in the UC Davis Principles of Community, we are dedicated to mutual respect, understanding, compassion and caring for everyone, regardless of their religious affiliation, culture, ethnicity or gender.

We will continue to work for peace, acceptance and service to one another. We are committed to the diversity on our campus and in our community, to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, and to the right of our students to learn and our faculty to teach and do research in an inclusive and intellectually vibrant environment. As always, we stand in solid support of all our students, faculty and staff.
