The application period is now open for administrative advisory committees for 2015-16. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to take this opportunity to become involved in issues affecting the UC Davis community.
“As a member of an administrative advisory committee, you can ensure that your constituency's perspectives are well represented in the committee’s recommendations to the administration,” said Robert Loessberg-Zahl, interim assistant executive vice chancellor. “You can also help representatives from other constituencies understand your interests and concerns and, in turn, learn more about their views of campus issues.”
The committees address topics such as arts, child care, diversity, student services and research, and provide an opportunity for all constituencies — Academic Senate and Academic Federation members, staff, graduate students and undergraduate students — to participate in governance of the campus.
More information is available online. The site includes the complete call for applications, a list of committees with brief descriptions, and the application form. Applications are due by Monday, March 9.
Phishing scam surfaces in Anthem hack
The UC Office of the President posted a notice Feb. 5 about a cyber attack on the health insurer Anthem, and updated the post one day later to warn of a phishing scam related to the hack.
The update states: “The phishing scam, which uses Anthem’s logo, includes an offer to sign up for a year of credit card protection. If you receive this or a similar email, do not respond to or click on any links. Anthem is not calling or emailing members.”
The original post noted the hack had compromised information for some 80 million members. “This potentially includes information about UC students, faculty, staff and retirees, as well as their dependents,” according to UCOP.
According to Anthem, the information accessed through the attack includes member names, health ID numbers/Social Security numbers (Anthem does not possess Social Security numbers for UC students), dates of birth, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, and employment information such as UC campus or medical center location and separation date.
Anthem has created a dedicated website where current and former Anthem members can find information. Members may also call this toll-free number: (877) 263-7995.
