The UC Davis Medical Center retains its high national, state and regional rankings in U.S. News & World Report’s new “Best Hospitals” report.

In the 2015-16 rankings, released today (July 21), the medical center is among the top 50 in the nation in 10 adult specialties, excelling in treating patients with the most serious and challenging injuries and illnesses.

U.S. News declared the medical center No. 1 in the Sacramento metropolitan area and sixth in California, among hospitals that are nationally ranked in one or more specialties, and hospitals that excel in multiple common procedures and conditions.

The UC Davis Medical Center received top-50 national rankings in the same 10 categories as last yea: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; ear, nose and throat; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology; and urology.

The 2015-16 report designates UC Davis as high performing in the areas of diabetes and endocrinology, heart failure and bypass surgery, hip and knee replacement, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

U.S. News evaluated hospitals in 16 adult specialties and ranked the top 50 hospitals in most of those specialties. Out of the nearly 5,000 hospitals included in the analysis, less than 3 percent attained a national ranking in even one specialty.

Earlier this year, U.S. News ranked UC Davis Children’s Hospital among the nation’s best in five pediatric specialties, together with Shriners Hospital for Children-Northern California, UC Davis’ long-standing partner in caring for children with burns, spinal cord injuries, urological issues and orthopedic disorders.

Hospital also declared 'Most Wired' again

The UC Davis Medical Center has received the “Most Wired” designation for the fifth year in a row, recognized as one of the nation¹s top health leaders in information technology.

Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, a publication of the American Hospital Association, conducts a national survey to compile the “Most Wired” list. The UC Davis Medical Center is among 14 California hospital’s on this year’s list.

The assessment looks at how hospitals use information technology to complement their patient safety and quality-of-care priorities as well as their public health, administrative processes and work force decisions.
