Posted May 19: Transportation Services resumed parking enforcement on campus this week, for parking in restricted spaces, including red zones (no parking) and spaces reserved for disabled people. Officers started out with warnings for most violations.

Permit requirements are suspended for all of May, just as they were in April. Permit holders with payroll deduction saw no deduction for April and will see no deduction for May (as reflected on biweekly paychecks May 27 and monthly paychecks June 1).

Refunds are being processed for other permit holders — those who paid online or through the Transportation Services office. No administrative fees are being assessed for these refunds, provided the permits are returned by June 1 (the deadline has been extended from May 20). The refunds will cover all of April, and any time after that, through the expiration date. Permits returned after June 1 will be processed in accordance with Transportation Services’ standard policy, which authorizes a $15 administrative fee.

FixSac5: Commuters take note

UC Davis’ Interstate 5 commuters are no doubt aware of a major construction project just getting underway on a 10-mile stretch of the highway between one mile south of Elk Grove Boulevard and the American River bridge just north of downtown Sacramento.

Rain forced the postponement of lane closures last weekend (May 15-18); the closures have been rescheduled from 8 p.m. Friday, May 29, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 1.

Caltrans said the project will take three years and include pavement rehabilitation and the extension of various on- and off-ramps, as well as the installation of new ramp meters; plus the addition of high occupancy vehicle, or HOV, lanes; replacement of a pedestrian overcrossing; and sound-wall construction.

‘Is It Bullying?’ trainings in June

Registration is underway for June 15 and 17 webinars for the campuswide training, “Is it Bullying? Awareness, Understanding and Strategies in Dealing With Abrasive Behaviors in the Workplace.”

Participants will learn skills for responding to abrasive behaviors in the workplace, examine one’s own behavior (self-reflection) that impacts interaction with colleagues and workplace climate, and explore strategies for empowering ourselves and others in cultivating inclusive work environments. Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to discuss hypothetical workplace case studies and apply various proactive and response strategies to these cases.

The trainings are scheduled as follows:

• Monday, June 15 — 1-4:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, June 17 — 8:30 a.m.-noon

(A May 26 session, 1-4:30 p.m., is full, but you can put your name on a waiting list.)
