Transportation Services (new name but the same acronymn, TAPS) announced that it will close its office and suspend online services from Friday through Tuesday (Aug. 21-25) during a switchover to a new computer system.
“TAPS will be transitioning to a new parking permit and enforcement management system,” Director Cliff Contreras wrote in the announcement. “The new system combines three legacy systems, which will simplify processes and will provide a sustainable foundation for improving customer service.”
With online services suspended, TAPS is reminding people of three other ways to pay fines by the due dates, and thus avoid late fees:
- Pay at the Cashier and Payment Solutions Office, 1200 Dutton Hall, by the payment due date
- Use the dropbox outside the TAPS Building, by the payment due date
- Pay by mail (postmarked by the payment due date)
Other TAPS operations will continue as usual: parking enforcement, information kiosks and motorist assistance.
Bus passes, normally sold at the TAPS office, are also available as follows:
- Davis-Sacramento campus shuttle passes — Cashier and Payment Solutions Office
- Unitrans passes — Unitrans office, 5 South Hall
Poster calendars are on their way
Preorders are being taken for the 2015-16 campus poster calendar, sold UC Davis Stores. The price is the same as last year — $1.89 each, folded or rolled — and purchases are eligible for the 10 percent departmental discount.
The order form (PDF) has been sent to prior year customers; if you need the form, contact Sarah Brodberg by email. Forms should be returned to schoolofficesupplies@ucdavis.edu. If you prefer, you can use a UC Davis Stores purchase order; scan it and send by email to the same address, or send by campus mail.
Delivery is free for folded or rolled calendars, or you can pick them up at the Memorial Union store.
The calendars are due in UC Davis Stores by the end of August and will go out for delivery around the same time.

Telethon raises nearly $275,000
Quite simply, it “was a day for miracles,” development director Jacquelyn Mills says about the Aug. 14 telethon for UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
First, there were the stories of children who had been treated at the hospital, part of the Children’s Miracle Network. Television station News10 told those stories throughout the day, from 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Click here for links to some of the video stories.
Then there was the fundraising: $274,958 — 49 percent more than last year’s total — from viewers and telethon partners.
Like all Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraisers, the money will stays local, for use by UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
“It was wonderful to see the Sacramento community come together to make a difference for the children here at UC Davis Children's Hospital,” Mills said.
