By Oct. 8, departments who provided a meal, event tickets, merchandise or other items to state elected officials, candidates for state office or their families in the calendar year’s third quarter must report them via the State Gifts and Dues Reporting form. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions about this new, permanent requirement.

Institutional membership dues to organizations that use their proceeds for lobbying must also be reported. Additionally, event invitations to government officials should be coordinated with the Office of Government and Community Relations in advance and include a boilerplate statement that “attendance by a public official will constitute acceptance of a reportable gift.”

The University of California is registered with the California Secretary of State as a lobbyist employer and is required to disclose state lobby-related activity and payments on a quarterly basis. If you have any reportable activity, please complete the form.

The deadline to report fourth quarter gifts will be Jan. 12.

Questions about reporting can be submitted to Loraine Hernandez-Covello by email or at 530-752-4066.
