UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May issued the following statement today (Feb. 3):

I join with President Drake in expressing solidarity with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that have received bomb threats in recent days. Racism and violence have no place in any higher education institution where people come to teach, learn and thrive.

My heart goes out to all those affected by the emotional turmoil these acts have on so many. We are all interconnected, though we may live in different places and have different experiences. I join with others in expressing my support for HBCU researchers, scholars, teachers, students and leaders who contribute to making our country and our communities stronger.
