The University of California, Davis, Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) today released its “Tahoe: State of the Lake Report 2026” which presents data from 2025 in the context of the long-term record.

The report provides an annual update for non-scientists on the Lake Tahoe Basin’s ecological health. It includes data related to temperature, precipitation and snowmelt, nutrients, algae, water clarity and more.

TERC Director Stephanie Hampton, a professor in the Environmental Science and Policy Department at UC Davis, will share report highlights during a live presentation today, July 16, at 5:30 p.m. PDT, at Granlibakken Tahoe in Tahoe City. (Learn more about the event and register.)

Her presentation will provide an overview of TERC's expanding research program, including new studies underway on water clarity, wildfire impacts on the lake, and other emerging areas.
