We are heartbroken as news of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria continues to unfold. UC Davis is home to a sizeable community of students and scholars from these countries — currently 38 students and four scholars from Turkey and one student and one scholar from Syria, as well as many students, staff and faculty from the diaspora.

We extend our deepest sympathies to those impacted by these events. We are one community here at UC Davis and our hearts go out to all those with families and friends who are experiencing distress around these events.

The UC Davis Global Affairs team has reached out to students and scholars who are directly affected by these disasters.

For anyone in need of support, we encourage you to use our campus resources. Students can make an appointment through the Aggie Mental Health website. For scholars, faculty and staff, the Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) offers confidential and cost-free assessment, counseling, consultation and referral services to all UC Davis and UC Davis Health faculty, staff, scholars and families.
