There were no tables to peruse or brochures to collect, but that didn’t stop more than 330 admitted students from nine countries from attending the College of Letters and Science’s virtual majors fair, held April 13-15.

As a follow-up to the university’s Aggie Experience Live! online event, the college provided more than 15 hours of in-depth programming, covering more than 35 of its 55 majors. Students were able to speak directly with an advisor in their major and ask questions on everything from what undergraduate research opportunities are available to how available faculty are during office hours to how easy it is to double-major.

The quality of teaching in a student’s program of interest is often the main reason they choose to enroll at a particular university.

“This fair was vital for newly admitted students, who are grappling with one of the biggest decisions of their lives from afar,” said Mark Foncannon, the college’s director of student recruitment and career development. “We weren’t going to allow COVID-19 to stop us from providing the same level of service in helping them make that decision.”

Recordings of the virtual majors fair are now available online with timestamps so students can find the session they are most interested in viewing.
